Get started with Tap
Tap is a wearable input device. Official SDKs let your host app receive finger combinations, mouse velocity, and sensor data over Bluetooth Low Energy. TapXR on the new developer firmware supports the full gesture set (taps, thumb-to-finger pinches, pinch-and-drag, thumb swipes, fist). Raw air gestures (swipes, pinches, fist) are available in Python, Web and Android (Android via onAirMouseInputReceived). iOS delivers TapXR air gestures through tapXRAirGestured.
What is Tap?
Tap Strap and TapXR appear to the OS as BLE peripherals. By default they behave like a HID keyboard and mouse. Your application becomes the brain: it connects over BLE, switches the device into Controller mode, and handles events.
TapBand is coming soon and uses the same SDK and BLE API. Join the waitlist.
Official platform SDKs are Apache 2.0. The Python package on PyPI is MIT.
What you can build
- AI glasses / camera control with taps and air gestures
- Custom layouts via TapMapper and HID keyboard+mouse
- Mobile apps on iOS and Android
- Research / ML pipelines from raw IMU and finger accelerometers
- Desktop tools in Python, or a custom BLE client
- Browser demos with Web Bluetooth

Honest constraints
- SDKs do not scan for devices. Pair Tap in OS Bluetooth settings first.
- Apps receive tap events only in Controller mode.
- TapXR Spatial Control states 100–102: qualified developers only — request access.
